The TRF House of Astronomy

(the constellation Orion from xsky)

The TRF House of Astronomy is just getting started. Eventually, you'll find software, images, and white papers at this site. For now, though, I've got little time; I'm FINALLY building an observatory!

Software

Eventually, I hope there will be quite a bit of software here, but for right now, check out the lst program, which will calculate the local sidereal time if your system's clock is correct and you give it your longitude.

You might also find xsky and xsat to be of interest.

Essays

I've written a few short essays that attempt to explain some topics in modern cosmology. These are pitched for the interested beginner, and most of them are entirely non-mathematical.

Why Do We Think Dark Energy Exists?
Why Do We Think Dark Matter Exists?
Derivation of the Friedmann Equation
