There are two useful software packages here,
xsky and xsat.
xsky
xsky is an interactive sky atlas for the X Window System.
It uses the Athena widget set and should therefore port fairly easily to any
Unix system running X. More information is available in the

xsat
xsat is an interactive satellite tracking program for the X Window
System. xsat uses the Athena widget set and should therefore port
fairly easily to any Unix system running X. xsat was originally
developed by David A. Curry; I've enhanced it somewhat and fixed a
collection of minor bugs. That won me the job of official maintainer.
